Today, I’m proud to announce SigOpt for Good, a program to provide free access to our product for any COVID-19 related research. This initiative will extend our ability to accomplish our mission to accelerate and amplify the impact of modelers everywhere. We feel privileged to be in a position to contribute to this cause.
Through this program, SigOpt Research Engineering Lead Michael McCourt and Software Engineer Olivia Kim have collaborated with Linda Wang from the University of Waterloo on COVID-Net. And we are already working with researchers at Argonne and Oak Ridge national laboratories on their COVID-19 HPC Consortium projects, with more on the way. For those new to SigOpt, our solution includes an easy-to-use API and detailed web dashboard to drive:
- Bayesian optimization to tune the parameters or hyperparameters of any model (deep learning, machine learning, reinforcement learning, simulation, any parameterized system)
- Adaptive experimental design for physical processes, materials science or drug discovery initiatives using Bayesian methods
- Parallel scheduling for model tuning jobs to accelerate your research
- Experiment tracking, management and analysis in a centralized dashboard to iterate on and collaborate around the modeling process
SigOpt has a history of supporting fundamental research that can solve entirely novel problems through the SigOpt Academic Program that offers our solution for free to researchers at nonprofits, labs or academic institutions who intend to publish their work. Through this program, thousands of researchers across hundreds of institutions have used SigOpt for their work and published more than thirty papers as a result.
We now hope to play a similar supporting role for any researcher working on projects inspired to slow, stop or alter the spread of COVID-19. This includes pharmaceutical research on vaccines, cures and treatments, health research related to best practices for providing care, modeling projects related to the spread of the disease, and everything in between. Whereas our Academic Program is only for nonprofit labs, universities or organizations, this program is for anyone doing research on COVID-19 projects regardless of whether they work for a nonprofit organization or for-profit enterprise.
If you’re working on COVID-19 research and SigOpt can help, please sign up for this program. Email [email protected] with any questions. We look forward to onboarding you and accelerating your research efforts.
